Question: One in five people who put off doing this say it’s because they are afraid of it. What is it?

Answer: Cleaning out their fridge!

Sometimes we give up on things because we are afraid of what might happen if we actually got it or did it — like getting our dream job or getting into the school we hope. Or maybe it’s because we’ve become hopeless that it could actually happen for us — like getting married, having a child, or getting well from an illness.

In today’s passage we’ll meet a man who had been an invalid for 38 years. Most of the world, including the man himself, wrote off any hope of his healing. The thing is though, Jesus is always in the business of bringing hope when things seem hopeless. Our sermon today comes from our very own Hunter Sawyer. He’ll bring us a a word from God’s heart to our own. This message has been Rated R for Real.
