Question: This Halloween treat was first introduced in 1968. What is it?

Answer: The first-ever fun-size candy bars!

The fun-size candy bar was originally produced by the Mars Candy Company to target occasions like Halloween, as the smaller, individually wrapped bars were ideal for trick-or-treaters. It turned out that the “fun size” was a hit because it allowed people to enjoy a variety of different candy bars, similar to a full-sized bar’s worth of candy in total, and was convenient for events and lunchboxes. I guess it is true that less is more. That’s true of candy and it’s true of the God life that we are called to participate in. Giving things up to pursue a deeper experience of God’s love and presence can be extremely powerful. That’s the subject of Pastor Jill’s sermon today called “When the People of God Pray and Fast.”
