Question: According to a recent study, the average guy doesn’t learn this until he’s 24 years old. What is it?
Answer: How to use the washing machine!
Wow, that’s pretty amazing. That means there are a lot of parents doing laundry for their adult kids. How old were you when you learned to do laundry? Even something as simple as doing our laundry takes someone teaching us how to do it.
There are lots of things that we may never have learned, and it’s certain that most of us have never had anyone teach us how to be prophets. Even just hearing the word “prophet” or “prophecy” can set us on alert for something strange. Interestingly enough, scripture tells to “eagerly desire” the gift of prophecy and “be eager to prophesy.” If that’s the case, how do we learn to do this, or even start to get comfortable with the idea? That’s the subject of today’s message. Pastor Jill continues our series on “How to Hear God” in a sermon called “When God Speaks THROUGH You.”
