Question: According to a recent study, the average person does this about 4 times a day, and often doesn’t realize it. What is it?
Answer: Talk to themselves!
Do you find this accurate for yourself? According to experts, talking to yourself is a normal cognitive process (often called private speech) used to organize thoughts, boost memory, increase focus, and regulate emotions. It acts as a mental tool for problem-solving, motivation, or managing stress. That all sounds pretty great!
Of course there’s a host of benefits from sharing with others as well. Sharing our stories with other people can help foster mental, emotional, and physical health, reduce stress, loneliness, and even lower our blood pressure. With that in mind, we’re going to give you a chance to share from your hearts in an extended time of open mic today. Pastor Jill will set things up for us and give us some prompts, then give us all a chance to share what the Lord is doing in our lives. It’s a morning we’re calling “Signs & Stories of Resurrection.”
