Question: In a recent survey it was found that 55% of people do this to relieve stress. What is it?

Answer: Watch TV!

While it’s true that watching TV or streaming services can help reduce anxiety and stress when used moderately, when used too much it can actually start to work on our brains like a drug, making us feel more isolated, and adversely affecting our sleep. It turns out though that an even better option for reducing stress is to spend time in prayer and God’s word.

A survey of over 40,000 people, ages 8-80 revealed that those who spend time in the Bible were 30% less likely to feel lonely, 32% less likely to have anger issues, 60% less likely to feel stagnant in their faith and life, and much more.

Today we’re going to spend some time learning about one way of making our time in scripture more personal, real, and interactive. While Pastor Jill is in Florida helping care for her parents this week, Pastor Wes brings us a sermon on this subject called “Praying God’s Word.” It’s a continuation of our series on prayer.
