Question: According to a recent survey, this is the number one thing women say they treat themselves to. What is it?

Answer: Chocolate!

Sometimes we just need a little something to help us slow down and savor the moment. Whether that’s a sweet treat, a cup of coffee, a meal with friends, or lighting a candle and sitting in the silence. Our good, good father created in us a need for stillness, rest, and savoring of beauty and wonder. As we talked about last week, though, the world around us and the Enemy do all they can to distract us, hurry us, rush us, and keep us moving from one thing to another. We can work to slow down our external life, but if our interior life is always busy or distracted, it’s hard to slow down the external life. We need margin. That’s the subject of today’s sermon, as Pastor Jill brings part two of our “Summer Slow Down” series.
