Question: 32% of people say this is their favorite form of exercise. What is it?

Answer: Hiking!

Is hiking your favorite form of exercise? Would you call yourself a hiker? If you hike, you are a hiker. If you write, you become known as a writer. The things we consistently do are the things that make us into the people we will eventually become. The things we think about, the things we participate in, and the people we spend time with shape us.

Hebb’s Law states “Neurons that fire together, wire together.” Our brains, and so our behaviors, are physically shaped by what we repetitively participate in. Often, without even knowing it, we are being shaped by all the things going on around us and what we intentionally or unintentionally do.

What would it look like if we were intentional about our spiritual formation? What does that even mean? That’s the subject of today’s message. As we begin a new series today, pastor Jill brings a sermon called “Formed for What?”
