Question: A study shows that 1 in 3 adults will make a financial decision based on this. What is it?

Answer: Their Horoscope!

That’s a little scary, right? When tested scientifically, it was found that Horoscopes perform no better than random chance in their correctness. Their perceived accuracy relies on the Forer effect — a psychological phenomenon where people believe vague, universally applicable statements are highly specific to them. For instance, “someone in this room is hungry, and would really like a snack.”

There are way better places to go looking for help than the horoscope, especially when something particularly distressing is going on in our world. Today, pastor Jill continues our series in the book of Daniel. In the scripture account we’ll read, someone is deeply troubled and looking for answers. We’ll see where help truly comes from, in a sermon called “Where Do You Go For Answers?”
