Question: In 2025, Americans spent $11 billion on this food item. What is it?

Answer: Hot Dogs!

Hot dogs are about as American as Apple pie and baseball. It’s a cultural food item that many people love and if they are living abroad, a hot dog might feel like comfort from back home. Every culture has very specific culinary traditions that often have something to say about the people who make and eat it, what’s traditionally been available in a given region, what mores or religious norms a culture has, and how that culture has interacted with other cultures over time. We can learn a lot about a culture through their food.

We can also learn a lot about God through different cultures. He loves to speak to us in culture. Culture was His invention, so it’s no surprise He speaks through it to us, if we have ears to hear and eyes to see. That’s the subject of today’s sermon.
