Passage: Matthew 28:16–20

Question: These cost an average of $152, and studies show that 110,000 Americans will get one today. What is it?
Answer: A speeding ticket!

Dang! That's a lot of people spending a lot of money doing something they know might get them in trouble.

The crazy and counter-intuitive thing is that if you're doing it right, following Jesus will cost you a lot more than that, and a much smaller number of people are doing it. Jesus said that following Him would cost our entire lives, but in giving our lives to following Him, we would in fact find true life. And He said it's a life more abundant. WOW!!

That's the call and the promise of discipleship, and the subject of today's sermon. Pastor Jill continues our series on the five purposes of the church. Today's message is called "The Call of Discipleship."
