Unmet Expectations: How to Deal with Deep Disappointment

Topic: Expectations Passage: John 12:12–12:36

According to a new study, getting praise from a boss is the number one thing that increases a worker's productivity.
Question: What is the second most effective thing for motivating workers?
Answer: Free food!

Would like free food where you work? The survey also revealed that just 16% of employees said they get free snacks and treats at work.

Now think about motivator number one in the survey: praise from the boss. When we are appreciated, it’s pretty nice. When we’re not, it can be disappointing.

Jesus knew that kind of disappointment. Of him, John wrote: “He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.”

This morning, we will hear the story of the day in which Jesus finally got the praise He deserved. Sadly, it didn’t last. But he promises this: Your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Steve's sermon is called, "Unmet Expectations: How to Deal with Deep Disappointment."
