Taking Sunday School Home—a link to discuss our lesson at home comes to you each week in the Celebration Weekly, our weekly church-wide e-news
It contains questions to further reinforce the Bible lesson at home. Our hope is that this helps you become more connected with what your child learns in Sunday school each week. If you don’t currently receive the Celebration Weekly, contact lauren@thepartychurch.com and ask to be added to the mailing list.

Feb 12 Jesus calms a storm/Jesus Helps Us When We Are Afraid; Mark 4:35-41
Feb 19 Four friends help a paralyzed man/Jesus Forgives Us; Mark 2:1-12
Feb 26 Jesus heals the blind man/Jesus Cares For Us; Mark 10:46-52
Thank you to last month’s teachers: Joyce Boling, Cindy and Steve, April, Russ, Matt D, John Haase and John Rinker, and Paula Crespin. We need one more teacher this month. Please talk to Kathy or Mary if you can teach.
Praises and Needs:
We are studying about how God loves us, knows us, and cares for us. The children are praying for each other during prayer time and it is so special to witness. God hears our prayers.
Thank you to Caroline Callis for once again bringing students from Jim Elliot school to spruce up the classrooms and do odd jobs around the church. We are thankful for their service.
Whiz Kids is going well. We have about 21 students involved and around seven Celebration folks tutoring students each week. Please continue to pray for the relationships that are being formed between students and their tutors and that the students will learn rapidly.
Please pray for more help in the Sunday school department. We need two more teachers to commit to teach for a month at a time with a three month break in between. Our kids are eager to learn and love the people who teach them each week. The children are a joy!! Come check things out in the children’s wing.
Thank you to the Middle School and High School students for being helpers in the Sunday school program. We couldn’t do it without you!

This week’s lesson links…Feb 5 & 12
Feb 5–Jesus Heals, Prays, and Preaches
Link: http://www.redcross.org/article/0,1072,0_426_4781,00.html
Read the article about the Red Cross and look at the pictures. Discuss how the write-up and photos portray volunteers helping people in need.
Link: http://www.justgive.org/html/ways/50ways_children.html
Read the suggestions for helping children in hospitals, those who are hungry, and people who are homeless. You may want to join together as a family and do one of the activities listed at this website.
As a family, talk about how people help people. In what ways do people care for one another? How does Jesus care for us? How does Jesus help people? Can we depend on Jesus? Why?
Spend a few moments in quiet meditation. Close your eyes and picture yourself in a homeless shelter. Imagine what it must be like not to have your own bed, or even enough food to eat. Pray silently for people who need to know that Jesus cares.
Feb 12–Jesus Calms a Storm
Link: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/brochures/safeboat.htm
Link: http://www.docksidereports.com/rough_water_seamanship_3.htm
Study the tips at these websites to learn what a good sailor must do when caught in a storm. As a family, discuss the following questions:
• What can a sailor do to prepare for a storm?
• What is it about a storm that makes it such a scary experience?
• What other situations in life are frightening to you? Can Jesus help at these times? How?
Let each family member contribute to a list that you label “What to do when fear strikes.” Be sure to remember who calmed the storm in Mark 4:35-41 and who is still our No. 1 storm control resource.
